Sometimes the biggest change to a room doesn’t call for new joinery — just a fresh surface. For this private residence in Lancaster Gate, the existing framed wardrobe and partition doors were tired and dated, with dark, worn panels that pulled the whole room down. Rather than replace the woodwork, we lifted it.
We installed Phillip Jeffries paper weave wallcovering into each recessed panel, letting the natural woven texture sit crisply inside the timber frames. It’s a beautifully simple idea with real impact: the soft, tactile weave brings warmth and light where there was heaviness before, and the clean lines of the frames become a feature rather than a flaw.
Paper weave is an unforgiving material — it shows every join and every misaligned edge — so precise cutting and careful pattern placement were essential to get a seamless finish within each panel. The before-and-after tells the story: the same doors, completely transformed, and a room that feels brighter, calmer and thoughtfully finished.
Framed doors like these are one of the easiest, highest-impact updates a home can make — a small change that completely refreshes a space.
